PELAYO ARRIZABALAGA & ELI GRAS
ÁRIDOS is the second work of Pelayo Arrizabalaga and Eli Gras, the previous Duplicat, was released in 2013 on this same label, although this time, it is published in collaboration with the label Alina (Madrid), specialized in improvisation.
Having gone through a large number of projects, some quite adventurous, changed their conception and instrumentation, they decide to play and record again, witnessing an evolution in their sound, in which sound devices and traditional instruments are interpreted, from ‘a new and personal perspective.
Pelayo is a painter and has been part of legendary bands such as Clónicos, with whom he has released several albums, having collaborated with countless artists, among them Jep Nuix and Victor Nubla, the Trio Frontton or Barb Wagner, part of award-winning projects such as Orgon… performed exhibitions of graphic scores, compositions, concerts and workshops for essential festivals and cultural entities, in his more than 40 years of professional career. He mainly plays bass clarinet, saxophone, electronic elements and altered vinyl records.
Eli is an experimental luthier, founder of La Olla Expréss and the Nonologic Festival, designs, writes, makes unique editions, workshops, talks, video, design… in addition to concept performances such as Saló Sonor, Peeled Piano, Esmolets or Wad- Ras, having visited musical styles such as electropop, electroacoustic, radiophonic art, traditional Greek… has been making experimental music since the 80s. He has been part of OBMUZ, Motor Combo, The Shower Sisters… or played with Pierre Bastien, Alain Wergifosse, H. J. Roedelius, David Fenech or Eduard Altaba to name a few examples.
