Albert Cirera & Kamarilla
Albert Cirera from Iguala is one of the most outstanding saxophonists of his generation, a decisive musician for understanding the current jazz scene and one of the biggest promoters of free improvisation during the last decade in Catalonia. Cirera has been able to develop a solid trajectory inside and outside our borders, to the point of actively participating in several international scenes. On the album ‘Aquella Cosa’ (Underpool, 2022), he reunites with a series of old compositions that he has recovered and recorded with a new septet. It is a group of musicians with whom he shares the complicity necessary to build a language that fits melodies, grooves and improvisations, but also experiments with sound, shapes and textures. Albert Cirera is a mature musician, able to express himself comfortably in any of the musical registers he has cultivated. It shows that music is not a matter of style, but of experience. Albert Cirera and Kamarilla make music in its pure state, that thing capable of making you laugh, dance, breathe and live.
